The Engineering Team at Cast Products takes pride in the comprehensive VA/VE (Value Added & Value Engineering) process we use to add value and cost savings to our customer’s components.  We meet with product designers, engineers, and operators/assemblers to determine the areas where you’ll realize the biggest savings.  This “Team Approach” is the most effective way to gather the necessary input to guarantee success.  Over the years, we have been able to save our customers millions of dollars by redesigning multi-piece assemblies, converting materials, or eliminating expensive machining operations.  In addition to design assistance, we can also provide 3D printed, CNC machined, or soft-tool cast prototypes for engineers to use to perform real world testing.

As an example, during a yearly VA/VE exercise at one of our customers, we identified the 10 piece assembly shown above as a possible cost savings candidate.  The results of this were as follows:

  • ELIMINATION of four aluminum extrusions
  • ELIMINATION of three plastic injection molded parts
  • ELIMINATION of two screw-machined parts
  • ELIMINATION of one roll-formed part
  • ELIMINATION of two drilling operations
  • ELIMINATION of two precision saw-cut operations
  • REDUCTION of inventories components
  • REDUCTION of lead times from multiple sources
  • Part-to part consistency
  • Part number, revision letter and date code can now appear on each part for warranty traceability.

We look forward to having the opportunity to work with you to review current parts and assemblies you have, or are working on, to see if we can help save you time and money.
